The holidays were absolutely nuts. It was a flurry of family, friends, and drum roll please I got engaged!!! Along with about 2 million other lucky ladies from your social media feed. So, basically, I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to plan the rest of my life with my best friend. I’ll try to post as often as possible and continue taking pictures of my random crafts.
Here is the ubiquitous ring in the car shot. Come on, I had to, give a girl a break. Gotta love my big guy, he did so well.
Aaron, is the most caring, understanding, and loving man I’ve ever met. I am truly lucky and ecstatic to have the opportunity to spend my life with him. Thanks baby you are so amazing. Alright, now time to post some amazing crafts and get all Martha Stewart on that a$#…no more mushy stuff. We’re not about that.
The events of this past weekend led me to find a new favorite drink, bubbles and berries. It’s berries in simple syrup, poured over dry ice (this causes the bubbles), and topped off with some champagne. It’s sweet, pretty, and fun. Try it and let me know what you think!
Well, I haven’t posted in a while mainly because I was recovering from the wedding of a lifetime. My dearest friend Kim married the truly debonaire Blain…even his name is swanky. I don’t need to give you guys a play by play but would love to show you some of my favorite captures from the day. Yes, some of them are out of focus thanx to my quick iPhone focus.
The wedding party was huge which made for very fun pre and post wedding events. I know not everyone has this many friends but it really made the weekend a party. Also, on a side note, this flower girl (cousin of the Bride) was adorable all day. She was quite a ham!
Finally, we partied until we could party no more. The top is the flower girl with a groom’s man, then the Bride and her brother (Stevie), some delish cupcakes, a dance with the Bride her long time friend (Tristen) and the flower girl again…I told you she was a ham. Then here is the exhausted Groom. How much do you love those socks, all the groom’s men had some variation.
Still Exhausted Cupcakes
This weekend I went to my first bestie’s bridal shower. This is a most momentous event in a world were people just don’t tie the knot anymore. We all arrived at the shower location, a home with a protected courtyard filled with pink and delectable things. My favorite type of pink things. Of course we played shower games separated by dancing, hula hooping, and water balloons. Yes, a room full of Black women and water balloons and nobody complained. Amazing!!!
Of course there was cake and cupcakes. They were amazingly simple and sweet, we had our chocolate and vanilla base, with sweet butter cream and a berry frosting. I didn’t have any because I still need to fit into that wedding dress, but I only heard amazing things about the sugary treats.
Then when it was finally time to go, we were able to fill bags at the candy station. The hit of the day was the bride’s mother’s home made mints. You haven’t tasted mints until you’ve tasted Aunt Linda’s mints.
Alright C&C readers I hope you experienced the awesomeness of this shower. All I have to say is I can’t wait for the amazing day where my Kimmy Kakes will become Mrs. Kimmy Kakes-Gentry!
