Bento Box DIY

Compartmentalization is an important task for any business owner.  I fight daily to keep the events in my life in cute tiny little boxes.  This may sound a little neurotic but  managing multiple brand identities, challenges of a 9-5, family, and the HOLIDAYS, things can get hectic.  So, I’m seeking some order by making some pretty bento inspired boxes for my lunch.  Gotta start somewhere.

I found these uber cute boxes at the Container Store.  That place is my idea of heaven…so organized, so beautiful.

Then on to my second favorite place in the world, Michaels, to get some waistband elastic.  I just happened to find this stunning silver elastic.

I did some rudimentary measurements.

Then hand stiched.

Marble Notebook DIY

DIY, Lifestyle, Mental Health April 13, 2016

We all have that overpacked junk drawer filled  with pens, rubber bands, candles and I guess mine has a ton of unused old journals. What do we do with these long forgotten relics?  Repurpose them!!!! Let me show you a quick DIY that will have your old throwaway journal looking better than new.

To start you will need an old journal, some contact paper and scissors.

Lay the contact paper flat and trace around the outside of the journal.

Don’t forget to open up the journal and trace around the whole thing. Also give some extra space so you can fold the contact paper over later.

Cut it out.

Peel the backing from the paper.

Attach it to the journal

Fold the excess paper to the inside of the journal’s cover.

Here’s the finished journal!!! Now,what to write; gratitude, poetry, a novel?  Only time will tell. What are some things you would write?  Tell me everything!

The Day Of

DIY, Lifestyle, Wedding September 2, 2015

Weddings are always a mixed bag; filled with happiness, joy, and even some tears. Well, at my bestie, Keisha’s, wedding we laughed, cried, meditated, and celebrated one another while watching her transcendental travel down the aisle.  I mean look at how gorgeous she is…stunning!

The weekend started in the truly fab town of Laguna.  Where the views are breathtaking, the neighborhoods are comfy, and the beaches are clean.  You can’t beat this view…I was uber excited because I got to meditate from this balcony every morning.  A dream!

What do you get for the spiritual and perpetually busy bride?  We got her some travel bags in her favorite color, blush, and some colorful panties tastefully hidden in little boxes.  We even threw in a hat for hubby.

Our bride loves letters and notes so I used some of my best crafting skills to make a box and water color a quote on the lid.

With a little love, we drafted touching personal letters and I watercolored and mounted them.

It all went in a Harvard colored L. L. Bean bag.  Did I mention the couple met at Harvard’s Business school.  Let’s talk about geniuses.  I can’t wait for some smart little babies!!!
Then the bride gave us some amazing gifts.

The robes and earrings were just perfect.

I made the bride a groom a ceremonial broom to jump.   What’s the point of a crafty friend if you can’t use her skills?  A lot of people don’t understand what jumping the broom is all about.  Well, back during slavery, African Americans were not allowed to get married.  So, they created their own marriage ceremonies which involved jumping over a broom to signify their bond.  Talk about creative.  Many African American couples still jump the broom at the end of their ceremonies to symbolize this same union as well as remember the sacrifices of our ancestors.  This history moment brought to you by Cupcakes.

Then it was time to get our bride ready.

Perfection!!!

We traveled from around the globe, with girls coming from as far as Dubai.

They were married on the lawn of the Montage Hotel in Laguna overlooking the ocean.

The children were absolutely adorable!

My hubby to be was divine so I had to steal a smooch.

Then we cut a rug.

Love my ladies, Susy, Ruta, and Rachel!

Then this happened. Yay weddings!!!

Craft Couch!

DIY, Lifestyle May 18, 2015

I’ve been a crafter since I could pick up scissors. Glue was never a delicious snack, every precious drop went onto a card or decoupage. Yup I decoupaged as a kid, then it was just paper mâché. But I’ve always said “why buy something you can make?” …or get someone else to make.  Even my skirt in the picture is made by a friend, Natalie Weech. Why give money to huge corporations when either myself or someone I know can do just as good?

Since I craft so much, I simply must do it in a cozy space. No chairs and tables for me. It’s all about my craft couch.

I cut and sew things on my craft couch.

I get goofy on my craft couch.

I paint on my craft couch. That gets a little risky but it happens. Probably to the chagrin of my significant other.

  I eat delicious foods.

I even take pictures of food. Hope you recognize this from my IG. It’s white chocolate kettle corn with rainbow sprinkles.

Now you know my secret. I craft while wearing tutus, sitting on my couch,  watching documentaries.  The tutu actually doesn’t happen normally I look totally crazy!
