I’ve had an insanely busy week (new site http://www.allycinhicks.com). But I’m never too busy to remind a friend of how amazing and brilliant she is. Get it get it. Candles make light…brilliant. Sometimes I crack myself up. I just had to prove to myself that you don’t have to spend all your money to give a thoughtful gift.
I collected a few household items. Well, at least common for my household. I grabbed a piece of sequin sweater from an earlier project, some marble contact paper, some Martha Stewart glitter, and of course some tea candles. My earthquake kit will miss them. Basically, cut the fabric and spray glue it to the plastic candle holder then add glitter to another one then finally the contact paper to yet another.
Then wrap it up. I always believe in a great ribbon and a hand written card. People love the personalization.
Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. The twinkling lights, the vibrant colors, the smell of fireplaces and pine needles, oh it’s just magical. So, this year I decided to make Christmas my b*&#h. I started by purchasing all of my gifts way in advance, so I could save, and adding a signature wrap. Believe me everyone will know I gave them a gift. I guess that saves me money on gift tags…come on you know this is from me.
I used three different wrapping papers, an old world map, a dark wood grain inspired print, and, of course, glitter. Glitter paper is a beast to work with, it’s everywhere and won’t stay stuck. The tape just ends up covered in amazing amazing sparkles.
Instead of using ribbon I used jute twine, it just feels more rugged. I’ve always liked pairing delicate elements with harsh accents, it creates an interesting juxtaposition that piques people’s interest. Anyway, the sprigs of evergreen were a final touch.
There you go. I hope everyone has an amazing Christmahanakwanzika.
I arrived home last Saturday to a box in my driveway. Upon opening the mystery box I found this fab vest and a gorg pink gown. I love a great surprise, thanx Rach! This is why good girlfriends exist, they know us better than we know ourselves. Well, I paired the brown suede tasseled vest with an oversized denim shirt, black stretch pants, and some cheetah wedges. It was truly a fashion fun day.
