So, my wedding was last week! I can’t wait to post those pix but for now we’ll have to settle for the cutest holiday of the year…EASTER!!!!! Easter is all about the sacrifices of our Lord and Savior or just an obsession with eggs, bunnies, and chocolate. Well, for me it’s all about creating something obnoxiously adorable…hence, metallic Easter eggs.
Gather the usual suspects, metallic spray paints (Rose gold, silver, and gold) and some copper nail polish. I chose Penny Talks by Essie.
Let’s start with our perfect little marble eggs. Get a cup and fill it with lukewarm water. This is important, if the water is too cold the nail polish will sink to the bottom of the cup rather than float on the top. We need the nail polish to float.
Add your nail polish. I make a little squiggle so a pretty pattern emerges.
Here we go!!!
Dip the egg and roll it around a little. That’s it…let it dry, it back, and feel like an artist!
Take the rest of your eggs to a well ventalated area, nobody wants to loose brain cells, and spray away! I only did one layer per egg but had to allow each side to dry before flipping the egg and spraying the other side.
This is what I ended up with and I’m very pleased. Gilded eggs for Easter!!!!!
New Years resolutions are in full swing and let’s be real, we ALL want to tone up a little. We’ve been moving our beautiful bods and making healthier food choices. This is yet another healthy little addition to your morning routine.
It may look like typical oatmeal but there’s a twist. To start, take a half cup oats, 3/4 cup almond milk, dash of brown sugar, and some fruit. Put it all in a fancy bowl and throw it in the fridge. Let it sit overnight and you’ll have a healthier version of instant oatmeal in the morning. Just one minute in the microwave. Simple! It’s great if you’re busy early in the morning and don’t have time to boil water and wait.
Shout out to my phenomenal bridesmaids! Your crazy bride here, wanted a weekend in the snow rather than a night of debauchery. And you know they wanted some debauchery. But these lovely ladies took me on a little mountain adventure anyway! Even though they all couldn’t make it. They all went out of their way to plan or send goodies.
I mean look at this cute little condo complex. The snow was just perfect. We arrived on a Friday with snow already on the ground stayed on Saturday while it snowed, then left on Sunday after the snow melted.
Look at this living room!!! Ugh just perfection.
These white walls, adorable little stools, and old school Mammoth map…perfecto!
Everything was just clean and trendy.
I bought a special Mammoth jacket and I’m obsessed! There’s my glitter mug. That tutorial will come soon.
We had logs.
And we had fire.
So of course we made s’more.
My cute contemplative LaKeisha.
We drank hot wine. Yup, hot wine! Red wine, burbon, and cinnamon, I think. Delish!
I played in the snow!
And I used the Fujitilm instant camera they so graciously bought me.
Then I flexed my night photo muscles and took some real pictures. We were literally frozen after this. It took almost an hour.
We had to say good bye but we promised to return and bring more of our girls next time.
The little tiny hungry girl inside of me couldn’t let this moment pass quietly into the night. I LOOOVE macaroons! They are just so simple a chic. Truly the perfect snack.
And if you like macaroons then you have to get them from Bottega Louie. It is downtown LA’s little window into delicious French snackerie…yup snackerie, I made that up.
I mean look at this absolute perfection. Packaging isn’t just about putting a great product in a box. It’s about creating and tapping into the emotions of consumers. A lot of thought and research goes into creating these iconic designs. Different colors evoke different feelings, some may even make you want to purchase more goodies. I think that’s the goal.
Pink is the color of gentleness and love and evokes feelings of calm. It doesn’t make me hungry but since it’s my favorite color it encourages me to buy, buy, buy. Some of the effects of color are due to personal factors and preferences but there are definitely effects that impact all of us. It’s just evolution baby! For example, colors like red and orange get our attention because they have historically signaled danger. Thus, stop lights and road cones.
I’m so sure you didn’t sign up for this little lesson in color theory, you just wanted to look at pictures of macaroons. But now that I’m done forcing you to learn some random information, go and see how colors make you feel today. Ciao!
I decided to pull out my old picnic basket for a post Indipendence Day beach trip. I filled it with goodies and didn’t forget the wine glasses.
I made some veggie burgers filled with love. All my sandwiches may be heart shaped from here on out. I can’t stand crusts, this is a good excuse to be rid of them.
Gio even fire grilled some squash! Such healthy beach goers.
Well, I had a few crispy marshmallows.
I had a cute little “love” temp tatt which motivated some great convos about the state of things and the world.
Alright people. Friendsgiving was so exciting and my life so exhausting that it took me almost a week to post this. But I made it and just in time to show you some table ideas for the real deal, THANKSGIVING!!! I love Friendsgiving and for multiple reasons of course friends and food are among them but it also serves as a dry run for fun decorative ideas. I mean I NEVER get to design my mom’s tables like this.
Ok first things first. Setting up the folding tables was all about understanding the space and the needs of our guests. The space was my cousin’s gorgeous home with wood floors and glass walled, colored lit recording studio. The guests were 50 super smart super chatty people that wanted to talk and eat. So, rather than arranging out 4 folding tables in a long banquet style I made two square tables. This was accomplished by aligning the tables side by side. Everything was covered with white linen table clothes and a black and white printed runner (in other words old washed curtains). Renew, reuse, recycle!
Then I started layering my table. First the gold chargers, napkin, gold paper plate, and silver disposable flatware. Let’s be honest for a moment. If you invited 10 people then you use real dished but if you are expecting 50, disposable is the only option. Then I wanted to add some height with large glass vases, mason jar, wine bottle with candle, and mercury votive. After that I started layering flowers. First the hanging amaranthus, then a whole array of chrysanthemums in purple, dark purple, and white. Finally, I placed candles and my little spiky balls from my last post.
Here is a close up of the hanging amaranthus.
And here is more I placed above the mantle. Finding balance around the room is very important. You don’t want uber cute tables and a drab space.
Then we ate and were merry.
The spinach balls were inspired.
And look at how cute this little patio is…ummm adorbs.
Photography has been a part of my life since the days of the disposable. I even had that Polaroid I-Zone camera. Remember that? It had the small sticky pictures that you plastered all over your Trapper Keeper. Yup had one of those too-I’ve always been ridiculously organized. Well, I’ve since found myself nestled in the compact little bosom of Fujifilm’s X series. My love needed to be commemorated so, of course, I scheduled a photoshoot.
I believe in a well cultivated shoot, so these were my three favorites.
So, my online shopping obsession continues with a totally adorbs bow ear cuff. Sarah Munsey, of Wired for Freedom left me a little message “You are loved, valued, unique, and beautiful you can do anything.” I mean amazing. Then she explained how she was a cutter and crafts freed her from emotional pain. It was definitely more than I expected and much appreciated.
My besties always know what gifts to bear. Considering I’m the girl that prefers an amazing experience to an amazing possession. I linger in the memories and live off of sentiment. So what encourages memories more than a smell? Nothing I say NOTHING!!! Thank you ladies for knowing exactly what to get me. Henri Bendel for the win!
My favorite for the day!
But I truly love them all. Secret, Henri Bendel scents-perfumes and candles- are layerable…yes layerable is a word!
I guess you could say trying new restaurants and caffes is a hobby of mine. So today I walked into Caffe Vita in Silver Lake. Service was alright, but what I loved was the ginger scone. It inspired a little photoshoot.
