Every once and a while I do something sweet for others…just every once and a while. These random acts of kindness don’t only put a smile on my target’s face but have a way of uplifting my spirits too. Hmmmm, I guess the argument against true altruism has some merit. My simple “Im just thinking about you gift” was a blank quote card and some teal wasi tape. Easy and affordable. Do something nice for someone this week readers!

Quote of the Day!
Bountiful Friday
Today, Cigars and Cupcakes ended up on Abbot Kinney, one of the hottest streets in Venice. I stumbled into Bountiful, you may not find the store name posted anywhere but it’s below a vintage sign “True Fit. ” I found myself propelled into a magical land, standing among cake stands, candle sticks, spools of thread, ribbon, handing chairs, and a pretty exquisite christmas tree suspended atop a tower of crystal. There were so many little bits and bobs that I was terrified it would all come crashing down around me but I found the strength to soak in all the eclectic ambiance.
Veggie Diary
I have been a practicing vegetarian for the past year. Sadly enough it’s just because it makes me skinnier, no major cause or statement over here. So of course I was concerned about replacing my protein a with nuts, beans, and supplements. No matter how much peanut butter I ate I noticed myself becoming more tired and irritable, my skin was very itchy, and my hair was brittle. What was I doing wrong? I was neglecting B complex, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), cyanocobalamin (B12), folic acid and biotin. After starting a B complex supplement I noticed quick improvements in energy, mood and skin. The itchiness was the worst and made it difficult to run. Well, two miles later I’m happy and healthy.

The Best of the Night
Like any red blooded American woman my eyes were glued to the Met Gala Monday night. So, also like any red blooded American woman I must give my, never too humble opinion. I’m going to keep it positive and short…Rooney Mara, Rooney Mara, Rooney Mara! She was pure perfection, not too literally punk, every lady knows to hint at a theme, don’t be a caricature. Her Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci white lace, shoulder-riffic, feminine dress was the essence of edgy chic. Thank you to the Mara style camp. Photo taken by Kevin Mazur. Lessons of the night; don’t show up in one pattern from head to toe, exposed roots aren’t a style, and don’t be too literal…Miley C.
Sick in Spring
So, today was a legitimate sick day. Between coughs, sneezes, and my perpetually runny nose I forced myself to sit at the pool and read. There’s only so much Hulu a person can watch. Today’s book was “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis. For anyone who’s familiar with Mr. Lewis, you know he can, at times, be incredibly theoretical. Not something a sick brain can handle. So, I sat back and absorbed the view of downtown LA then went right back to bed. Can’t wait to feel better, but till then here’s to the BBC, my pillow, and Emergen-C.
