I’ve been amazingly busy lately, but I managed to find the time to wade through a few pix and stumbled across this…
The crisp black and white ottoman reminded me of an embarrassingly wretched ottoman in my possession, in desperate need of some TLC. This is what I started with-don’t judge…
1. I assembled my tools; an electric drill, staple gun, exacto knife, thread and needle, and some great fabric.
2. Remove the base from the cushion area by unscrewing the four attaching screws (thanx handy dandy electric drill).
3. There were some structural problems with the foam so I used my excto knife to cut a hole in the fabric for some needed readjusting then I sewed it back up.
4. Next, I laid the new fabric stretching it tightly over the original fabric (no need to remove the old fabric)- keep it simple.
5. I stapled the fabric all the way around, thanx to my staple gun and a little upper body strength.
6. I pleated the corners; just like wrapping a present.
7. Reattach the base and YAY!!!
So glad that crazy woman in Ohio who wanted to hire someone to kill people wearing fur didn’t bump into the fab Anna Dello Russo.
This is the face to watch out for this season, Lara Mullen; this 17-year old dynamo has traipse down 9 runways in 5 days. Yikes, talk about work-a-holic. Her pretty punam has graced the stages of Marc Jacobs, Richard Chai, Rag&Bone, Prabal Gurung, and Alexander Wang. Werk it girl!
How much do I love Thanie Newton’s updo? Oh let me count the ways…1) it reminds me of a long gone period of elegance. 2) is is oh so Janelle Monae. 3) I think it’s actually something I can do with my hair. Thanx Black Girl with Long Hair for the pic.
This Vday was all about my besties. Since this is a pretty pivotal year for us all-S is making her mark on the silver screen, N is preparing to launch her hugely anticipated website, K is finishing up at Harvard, and I’m getting ready to complete my Ph.D.-we decided we had to show each other as much love as possible. Hence my box-o-motivation. I put together an assortment of individually meaningless items, some rock candy, chocolates, forget me nots, and some of their favorite spirits, to help them realize how amazing they are to me.
Each item was tethered to a sentiment I felt would propel them through 2012; always be sweet, grow in the midst of adversity, shine through the darkness, be spirited (my favorite), always be sweet, and don’t let your heart be hardened. I love my ladies, they have gotten me through some tough times and I’ve emerged on the other end eternally grateful. So C&C readers use today to show those you are grateful for how much you love them…
Who loves Rebecca Taylor? I do, I do!!!
When you think United Colors of Benetton you think of minimalist colorful clothes and controversial ads. Well, ladies and gentlemen, yet again UCB is making some enemies with their newest ad campaign for Unhate. The ads feature world leaders waving their unhate flags while in warm embrace, lip locks baby! They feature our own President Obama getting it on with Hugo Chavez and Hu Jintao (seperate pictures, they’re not that kinky), Kim Jong-il smooching Lee Myung-bak, and Angela Merkel loving Nicolas Sarkozy down. The Unhate campaign is all about increasing tolerance and communication on a global level. This ad definately has us communicating in fact it’s made some just pain uncomfortable.
Uncomfortable yet? It’s rare that people are motivated into action when they are comfortable, so let this discomfort propel you into a state of action. Get uncomfortable C&C readers…you don’t have to Unhate but do something to better the world around you.
How amazing does Rooney Mara look in Mugler at the Academy Awards.
