4 Cups a Day Keeps the Dr Away!

According to a study by Ling Zheng and Kun Haung published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 4 cups of coffee a day may decrease a persons chances of developing diabetes mellitus.  This study observed that caffeine derivatives (caffeine, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid and dihydrocaffeic acid)  actually decreased levels of a protein (human islet amyloid polypeptide) known to cause diabetes.  Therefore, your morning trip to Starbucks may be doing more than preparing you for a long day in the rat race it may be keeping you from developing a debilitating metabolic syndrome.  For more info here is a link to the study’s abstract.  LINK!
